MINUTES 16.1.12

author: admin date: January 25, 2012

Present:   Charlie Canty, Bradley Howe, Tom Clark, Josh Coles, James O’Gorman, Will Quaresima and Jane Gray.

This meeting was held in the shelter in minus 4 degrees !  so the topics discussed were discussed as quickly as possible.

1.  Shelter – we have been successful in getting a grant of £300 to cover the cost of the plastic to replace the front panel of the shelter.   It will cost a further £80 to install it.   It will be in three or four panels.    Jane has found a supplier of plastic sheets and it will be a great deal cheaper to use these instead of going back to the original shelter supplier.   We talked a lot about whether the non-skaters who used the shelter at night would respect it and not trash it.   There is the possibility of removing the front panel altogether until people can be trusted to look after it.   We decided to leave it until the next meeting to see how the taped area, which is acting as a temporary repair, survives.

2.  Urban Games  -  Jane and Martin had attended a meeting of the ECC Urban Games Committee in Chelmsford.   We are one of a group of towns putting on Urban Games throughout the summer.   The date we decided on is Sunday 2nd September.   This will be a massive Skate Jam with music and art.   The art will probably take the form of a board decorating competition.  We will need a marquee for the bands and art work if the weather is bad.  We will also have food stalls, ice cream etc:   Toilets will need to be hired and stewards will need to be recruited to supervise parking.   We must have First Aiders as well.   The Urban Games have a budget attached to them to pay for the things we are going to need but there should be some over for prizes etc:   There will be extensive radio and press publicity and possible TV interest.

3.   Under 10s – we are still getting some parents ignoring the under 10’s signs and they can be very difficult when asked to use the mini-park and rail area even when given the “important information for parents” leaflet.

At this point we abandoned the meeting as it was just too cold !
